Wednesday Evening: Stay plugged in to what’s going on.

Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday. For all you Mom’s who come to church, expect a surprise or two. Enough said.

At 5 pm Tuesday, Vivian Nick, 88, went to be with the Lord. Please pray for John Nick and the rest of the family. Visitation is Sunday, May 09, from 5 to 8 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue and service is by Pastor Giardino on Monday at 11 AM.

Please pray also for our pastor to be able to make it to the Jeff Faggert tour in Virginia on Monday.

Pray for the health of Margie Pawley, that she is able to continue to be a blessing with the work she does for us here at Gospel Light.

An ABVI-Goodwill shed is now on the church property off the parking lot. This is the place to donate your gently used clothing and household items. ABVI-Goodwill Industries  of Greater Rochester, ABVI-Goodwill, is a volunteer organization which prepares and empowers people who are blind or visually impaired to be self-sufficient and contribute to their families and communities.

Pastor is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Peter Bard and his family, perhaps next month. Peter Bard, a trained minister, and his wife Leah will be helping with the youth ministry here at Gospel Light.

Once again, Thursday evening, Gabriel Gonzalez and other volunteers will be out street preaching at the corner of Howard and Lyell Roads. Please consider joining them and letting the Spirit work through you to win souls.

A special thanks to Mike Deming for providing furniture from an estate sale and many household items to the sell at our yard sale this weekend. We open the doors to the church for our big sale on Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm each day.

The theme of the “Way of the Master” video on Wednesday evening was “True and False Conversion”. Polls conducted by the Barna Research Group, Barna.org, have shown that the perceived behavior of church goers and non-church goers is indistinguishable in the every day world. There is an appearance that Christians are still trapped in their every day problems. The cause of this phenomenon is that the vast majority of church-goers are not true Christians. Most church-goers will acknowledge with their lips but not with their hearts. Citing Mark 4:3-8, the parable about the sowing of seeds, it was explained that when the gospel is sown, there will be true and many false conversions. At about a 25% success rate, there will be those that both hear and truly understand the gospel message. It is through the law that understanding comes. God warns us that he will punish sin. Forgiveness hinges on repentance followed by trusting in Jesus. It was said that many backsliders were really never true Christians. On the day of judgment, God will sort out the good from the bad.
