Because the Bible tells me so…

What happens when a Christian man or woman dies? 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 tells us that when Christians are absent from the body, they are present with the Lord. Here are some of the things the Bible says happens to Christians after they die.

We are escorted by angels into heaven: During Jesus’ parable of the begger, He said, “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: Luke 16:22

We are received and greeted by Jesus: “But he (Stephen), being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.” Acts 7:55-56 As Stephen died, he said, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Acts 7:59

We enter into the joy of the Lord: During Jesus’ parable of the talents, He said, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matt 25:21

We are no longer under the curse: John was being shown heaven: “And there shall be no more curse:” Rev 22:3

We no longer suffer sorrow or pain: “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Rev 21:4

We become like Christ: John declares, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him;” 1 John 3:2

We serve God: John was being shown heaven: “the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:” Rev 22:3

We dwell with God: John heard a great voice say, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Rev 21:3

We are with God forever: Christ was teaching Nicodemus: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
