Our Men’s & Boy’s Overnight Camping trip to Gospel Light’s campgrounds in Oxford, NY is rapidly approaching. Tom Hamilton is the “point man” for this venture, so this blogger was able to gather a few details from him.
For those interested in joining (i.e. men and boys over 9 years of age), a $20 fee is required by Wednesday, Oct. 6th at the latest. The money can be handed over to Tom or Pastor Giardino when you see them at service this coming Sunday or Wednesday.
Be sure to arrive at GLBBC Friday afternoon before 4 PM on October 8th. Carpooling arrangements need to be figured out. Please wear appropriately warm clothing and bring along sleeping gear (e.g. blanks, sleeping bag, pillows, teddy bears, etc.). If you plan on participating in target practice, bring along your rifle and ammo.
The camping party will arrive at the camp in Oxford at 7:30 PM, just in time for the dinner being provided by Leon and Jean Barrow (who watch over the camp). Sleeping will be in an indoor shelter on cots and beds. Three other meals will be provided on Saturday.
Saturday’s agenda kicks off with a charge from Brother Gabriel Gonzalez followed by a grueling 20 mile run (kidding about the run). Last year, Jeremiah was seen running with a bear (bare) behind (kidding again). Canoeing and kayaking is the morning’s main activity and target practice will be the activity for the afternoon. Our camping party will be leaving for home around 5 PM Saturday afternoon (barring any tires being shot out.)
