Saturday, December 11th marked the 1 year anniversary of the Nursing Home Ministry at Wedgewood Nursing Home. We had one of our best services ever with a Christmas theme to our afternoon. 15 residents in this 29 resident Nursing home were present, and 17 volunteers from church were there. God has allowed us a great opportunity here.
The service began with the youth choir singing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing“, which was followed by prayer and then Peter Bard preaching from Luke chapter 2 regarding the birth of Christ into his world. He didn’t stay there, however, and made the point that Christ lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and was raised from the dead so that we might be saved! How wonderful that God’s mercy is available no matter what season of life we’re in!
The service progressed with more singing of Christmas Carols with the residents. We also had the younger children sing “Silent Night” on the microphone. How good it was to hear young, innocent voices sing of the Saviour! On the last song of the service, “O Come all ye Faithful”, a resident who is extremely hard of hearing and usually does not participate in the services recognized the song and lifted up her head, singing along! God is using the music to bring these people some hope!
We ended our service with prayer and fellowshipped with these dear people at Wedgewood Nursing Home for a while. So many of them are in need of a friend and a gospel witness to their hearts. If you are interested in visiting a resident or helping out in our services that we hold every month, please contact Jeremiah Rodell at 617-4852 or after church anytime. Our next scheduled service is on January 15th.
