He’d Rather Have Jesus – By Roy Exum

“Glen Coffee, a 23-year-old kid who had a $2.5 million contract and a promising career in pro football, walked away from the San Francisco 49ers on Friday and none of the cynical national media knew quite what to do or say. That’s because Glen, a back-up running back for the 49ers, calmly said he’d rather [...]

Luke 5:1-11

My friends at Gospel Light, you may recognize these key verses from Pastor Giardino’s Sunday morning sermon of two weeks ago, “Out to Launch”. I hope you won’t mind reviewing the passages, as I’ve done while pasting together this graphic.

Shhh…don’t say “Jesus” in public

It seems just by invoking the name of Jesus in a public prayer will offend someone. Well at least some public officials are too afraid that it might offend someone. So the courageous clerk for the North Carolina House of Representatives took matters into her own hands and arranged to have Pastor Ron Baity (Berean [...]

Brother Scott Saxton asks, “How do you spell victory?”

At Sunday evening’s service, Brother Scott Saxton was invited to preach for one last time. Scott and his wife Lorraine will be leaving town this week to head back to South Florida. You’ve no doubt seen their camper in back of the church. Keep them in your prayers as they travel and as they attempt [...]

Jesus’s Commission to Us: Evangelism

This blogger has yet to feel comfortable, nor truly capable, of writing “bible study” material suitable for the audience of this blog. I’ve sat at Gospel Light among some of the most well-read and scholarly Christians I’ve ever know, and compared how much more knowledgeable and further along in their Christian walks they might be. [...]

Recall Notice

† RECALL NOTICE † The maker of all human beings is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to the serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units, code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of [...]

Survey says: 52% of Americans say Jesus speaks to them

A survey from the Barna Group, a Christian research company, recently reported: “Americans Feel Connected to Jesus. In the age of Facebook, Twitter, and texting, many Americans feel more connected to people than ever. But new research shows that one of the dominant connections in people’s lives is with Jesus Christ. In fact, more people [...]

We need to change our view of sin.

Sunday morning service was a joyous time at Gospel Light, having just finished a wonderfully successful Friday Youth Rally and Saturday followup service. However, more spiritual wonders were yet to come. Service opened up with Bonnie Vasquez conducting the children’s choir, a true blessing to the church. In an effort to capture the spirit of [...]

Youth Rally: “Two are better than one.”

Friday evening at Gospel Light Bible Baptist Church (GLBBC) hosted a Youth Rally attended by more than 300 (not a typo) participants… so where to begin? Wow. Let’s cut straight to the chase; four lost souls came forward during the invitation and accepted the saving grace of Jesus, proclaiming Him to be their Lord and [...]

Live nearer to Christ.

Think more of Jesus’ cross, spend more time in contemplation of his blessed person, of his death and of his rising again; drink in more of his life, and live more upon him. I pray you do this. The words may sound in your ears as very common, and such as you have heard ten [...]

Will you stray from the flock?

Thanks to www.agnusday.org Jesus Said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able [...]

Shadow of the Cross: Our Lord in heaven is smiling

This blogger attended the Sunday morning performance of “Shadow of the Cross” at Gospel Light Bible Baptist Church and witnessed a superb, artfully crafted presentation. The audience was obviously delighted and inspired by what they saw and heard. This telling of the death and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus touched all but the hardest of [...]

Glory to God: Christ Jesus is Risen

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, [...]

Pastor’s Pet Recommendation: Marine Iguana

Well, not really.  Paster Giardino used the Marine Iguana, which is native to the Galápagos Islands, to illustrate a point during Sunday morning’s sermon. This animal has the ability, unique among modern lizards, to live and forage in the sea. Pastor explained how they feed almost exclusively on marine algae, “sneezing” the excess salt from [...]

The Invisible Man

Welcome back to Gospel Light Blog Central! Pastor’s Preamble Pastor Giardino teaches that we owe each other love. If we were debt free financially, we’re still not debt free spiritually. We owe love to one another! Romans 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled [...]

Just A Speck

When you look at the midnight sky at the billions upon billions of sparkling stars and a moon full and bright, does it make you wonder about how great and wonderous this universe really is? Does it bring to mind how small in comparison is this tiny speck called earth? Does it make you think [...]

Patch the Pirate Club

Every Wednesday night, at 6:45 PM, Gospel Light Bible Baptist Church holds a meeting of the children’s Patch the Pirate Club, or simple Patch Club. The second floor school rooms are used while moms and dads are in the sanctuary for Wednesday night service. The boys and girls belonging to the club receive Sailor’s Log [...]

More about prayer…

Did you know that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, prays on our behalf? Before being handed over to be crucified, Jesus prayed to His Father to keep and preserve his disciples. Christ then prayed for the church to come, those who hear His word and believe on him: Neither pray I for these alone, [...]

The Bridge

One day someone I knew gave me a copy of a short story called “The Bridge”. When I read the story it broke my heart and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for months. The story made me want to learn all I could about Jesus and the great gift He gave me. So I want to share it with you.
